Foobar2000 for me.
Just out of interest, i plan to give MusicIP a whirl, but how exactly
does it analyse your music? What part does it analyse? Just the Genre
tags?

I don't know exactly how it analyzes your music, but it does much more
than look at genre tags. It's actually pretty uncanny how good a
playlist it can put together based on a few seed tracks that you
select. The idea is similar to Pandora, etc. Check their site for more

If you are on linux then give Amarok a try - I have found this to be
good for playlist making and it includes the ability to sample before
committing to add to a list.

foobar2000 is my personal favourite for building playlists. I think that
MediaMonkey isn't bad either (and I use it to point out missing tracks
in playlists, which foobar doesn't seem to do, though it's so
configurable I wouldn't be surprised to find there's a way to do it).

It would help if you indicated what OS you are using, but in addition to
foobar2000, MusicIP Mixer is great for building playlists. The main
downside with MusicIP is that it can take a long time to analyze your
library, but once that's done you're good to go.

I am looking for a good software tool to generate playlists to play
through a SB3. I have about 1000 discs as flac files and another 200
or so MP3s.
