I know it's a late reply, but congrats on getting it figured out. I am
also on the lookout for a SLIMP3 for the same reason you specified.

After the onslaught of helpful suggestions and a full reinstall of the
server software I turned once more to my old friend Google and finally
found the answer. Lame needs to go into the C:\Windows folder to work,
rather than the ...\server\Bin folder as originally suggested.
Why? I give in!
