SqueezeNetwork should still work though - and if it's OK, that
eliminates the Squeezebox hardware.

Good idea. My Slimserver is dead now, though. I'll see whether I get the
same problem when I get my QNAP back.

I don't use AlienBBC, and don't know how much the server is involved
when playing those streams. (I seem to have the impression that it has

Not withstanding the previous poster, the SB3 should not be making white
noise, or any other artifacts. Mine certainly don't, and I'm sure that
others working properly don't either.

i use analog outs.
i have noticed lil bits of white noise or pops or whatever you want to
call them pretty regularly on the SB, and have just gotten used to the
annoyance. (i don't mind it too much since usually my stereo is no
more than moderately loud and b/c it doesn't seem to happen often

If you've got one, you could try a different amp.

I'm currently listening to Alien BBC (both Radio 6 and 5) and am still
experiencing the short bursts of interference.

The coax. cable
The DAC

Thanks so much for the advice. I'll try and found out where the culprit
is over the next few days. Really don't want it to be the DAC as it
sounds so good!

There are so many possible points of failure that the first thing you
need to do is figure out at what stage the problem is being introduced.
You need to be systematic about diagnosing
The next thing I'd try would be to link the analog out from the SB
directly to the amp. If you amp has a spare input you could just run
it in parallel and switch between the two, both SB outputs are always
active.
I appreciate this may not be your desired config, but it would

I've been very impressed with the SB3 but I'm suffering from very short
bursts of white noise or spikes at fairly frequent and irregular
intervals.
I've upgraded my broadband service to the fastest available and no
