Take a look at the Dynaudio powered media speaker (yes it is very
expensive):

If you want a great AM/FM Tuner in the bargain check out Tivoli. I have
had a Model 2 with an SB2 in the bedroom for a couple years:

The form factor is nice and there are several finishes. You can also

That's true. We were working with the AudioEngine guys early on to
explore building some companion speakers for Squeezebox, starting
with the A5s and trying to scale down. We got distracted with our
new friends at Logitech, and later on the A2s have arrived.
I haven't heard them personally
I just remembered something - a couple of years ago at Digital Life
Slimdevices were demonstrating the SB3 with what I'm guessing were an
early prototype of the A2 (or maybe an aborted A1?). They were tiny and
powered IIRC, but design wise just like the A2. Alas they weren't loud
enough to compete
I'd recommend the Harman Kardon Soundsticks II. Great sound and very
sexy!
I have one pair for the bedroom for the SB3 and another in the study
for the computer.

They wouldn't invent a cradle/boombox for the SB3; it would be for the
much smaller SBR.

You've got to wonder if now is the right time to buy little powered
speakers for an SB3/Receiver. It'd take so little for Logitech to add
an SB3 cradl

I don't come from a 'pc-speaker' background, and having heard them I

people ripping their music collections, or buying them on-line, but
also by the demands of games for higher quality sounds.

They aren't huge, and won't do much bass, but what they do do, they do
very well.
At around £80 they are good vfm too.

I would also throw the Swan S200A's (or one of their other powered
models) onto your short list. I'm using the S200A's in a secondary
setup, and they are excellent. Unfortunately, they do NOT have a
standby power mode. I just leave mine on all the time, and power my

What's recommended depends mostly on your budget. Prices range from
cheapo "computer speakers" (not recommended) to active monitors costing
US$2000 and more, with a lot in-between. Search these forums for "active
speakers" or "powered speakers" and you'll find plenty of views.

I really fancy the duet when it comes out but are there any
recommendations for powered speakers to attach to this device?
Cheers!
