As kolding pointed out last year, this is exactly what Sonos provide.
Useful or not, like it or hate it, it's a configuration that sells.

...Personally i think it's great other companies have been able to
licence the Squeezebox technology...
What I'd like to see is the player technology licensed to other
electronics manufacturers. It's be great to get a Yamaha, Sony,
Pioneer, etc. receiver (or even TV)

a Squeezebox. Much more powerful than DLNA/UPNP junk most receivers

Agree with previous posts. For those who dont already have amp or dont
care to get a separate one.
But why not just go Duet + Audioengine 5s? Cheaper and already highly
reviewed. Plus the footprint would be smaller.

I would be interested in it if it had a nice dual display like the
Transporter. I would not want to encourage any more products along the
lines of the SB Receiver with nothing but a Mood Ring style LED to tell
you what it is doing.

It appears to be for people who (a) don't already have the requisite amp
or active speakers, and (b) can't be bothered to choose an amp for
themselves. No doubt there's a market there, but I can't say how big it
is. I agree with the reviewer's reaction: uninspiring.

So what do people make of this then?
