If your router and other hardware does not support WPA2 I would
strongly suggest updating to something that does.

WEP is terrible security. WPA is far better (although not perfect).
Google for "wep vs wpa" turns up loads of articles on the subject.

If your network can support WPA, switch to it and then you can enter the
code word on the Squeezebox.
If your router doesn't support WPA now, you might try upgrading the
firmware.

Once the SB3 is setup, the settings stay with the player even if you
unplug.
