Thanks for the replies. I often use my current laptop to control squeezebox with slimserver running on a separate machine, so I know how this will feel with a netbook. One thing that might be a clincher for me would be if artwork loads quicker on the controller than it does on the web

The netbook will be the more versatile device, but the SBC will be better for controlling your SB(s). The purpose-designed SqueezeOS interface on the Controller is just a lot faster than the web interface, even on a fairly powerful notebook. -- aubuti

To me, the big things you would lose with the netbook are 1) simple easy docking charger, 2)single handed control, and 3)instant on. With the controller, you can set it to turn the screen off when it is inactive. I have mine set up this way. So, when I pull it from it's dock, it comes on
