Thanks for the replies. I often use my current laptop to control
squeezebox with slimserver running on a separate machine, so I know how
this will feel with a netbook. One thing that might be a clincher for
me would be if artwork loads quicker on the controller than it does on
the web
So I have an Asus 901 (using Google Chrome, as the NSA knows) and an
SBC. The SBC is more usable as a day-to-day remote control.

Hi folks,
I've been thinking bout picking up a Squeeze Controller for my
squeezebox, HOWEVER, I am wondering if I would be better spending some

Does the controller collect the data from the server the same way the
netbook (or any
The netbook will be the more versatile device, but the SBC will be
better for controlling your SB(s). The purpose-designed SqueezeOS
interface on the Controller is just a lot faster than the web

To me, the big things you would lose with the netbook are 1) simple easy
docking charger, 2)single handed control, and 3)instant on.
With the controller, you can set it to turn the screen off when it is
inactive. I have mine set up this way. So, when I pull it from it's
dock, it comes on
