I'll add the M1 Active to the list. I have the Logitech Z-2300 and the M1 kicks its ass. I've also looked at the A5 and have added it to my wish list. -- cphan Server: VortexBox Appliance v1.4 Remote: iPod Touch running iPeng 1.2.5 Living room: SB3 Alesis M1 Active MkII Bedroom: Boombox

Just to give another option (among all the A-5 recommendations), I'd also suggest the Logitech Z-2300 line. I'm not saying they're as good as the A-5s, but at less than half the price, they do provide great sound for the cost. No idea about their availability outside the U.S., but they're worth

Hi, I really don't know their availability in the UK but I recently bought a pair of the M-Audio AV30 for my Squeezebox Radio and they work fantastic. The M-Audio AV40 are MUCH better and are only a few dollars more. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/StudiophileAV30.html -- carib

I second the A5 recommendation, they sound great. But I'm not sure they will meet your budget criteria at $349 US MSRP. Though they are regularly discounted to $299, and sometimes you can catch a deal for $249. -- toby10

The Acoustic Energy Aego-M are quite good - they are a 2.1 system which may not be what you want. They are at the upper end of the budget but can be found for about £120 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acoustic-Energy-AE26-06B-active-speaker/dp/B000MN96T6 -- bpa

I'm also a happy user of the AudioEngine A5's. I use them in the bedroom. They are a bit more pricey than your budget though, so you would need to look at the smaller A2's instead. The A5's sound great. My only complaint with them is that after it has switched to standby due to no activity,

I own both the A5 and the Aego M, and think they represent excellent value. 2 years ago I had to move for over a year to a remote location for work. I could not take my full blown home system with me, but the A5s and a SB3 kept me listening music. Highly recommended. -- pablolie ...pablo

Another vote for M-Audio here. Have a pair of BX5a's connected to an SB3 in my office, that I picked up brand spanking off the Bay for just over £100. Very impressed. Amazon UK currently have the AV40 for £82 delivered. -- Druboo Andy SB Touch, SB3, Transporter, Boom. Squeezebox Server 7.6
