Main hifi: Touch + CIA
thanks for links... i dont keep up much on the hw products as my
squeezereciever works flawlessley.
however, now i see, where in lies the rub... the web ui is what makes
the squeeze the best thing for me.
i thought with having web server on device it would save the logitech
fellahs a hell of a
the server does runs on the Touch, but it has no web interface ( due to
limited cpu and ram ).
touch can act as server for other squeezeboxes and it does run samba.
but no web-UI and a bunch of other limitations, have a look in the
wiki.
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Squeezebox_Touch_as
oh ... just reading a review on the touch...
"serving music to a Squeezebox Touch is through the Windows, Mac, or
Linux version of Squeezebox Server currently at version 7.5.0. Using
this method requires the server software to be installed on a computer.
The software must run at all times for the
cool, so it was not a dumb idea then...
so you tell the touch to connect to samba shares then?
can you go to touchdevice:9000 and get the same web interface up as on
the duo?

i was just thinking why not have web server on actual device.
advantages/usage:
choose smb/sftp shares for media content from device
if more than 1 squeeze device, choose master server instead of running
2nd server.
only 1 platform build for server/no building for end users
minimal set up on clie
