On occasion when enjoying the forum I come across posts that include a
download, for instance new plugins.
It appears that original posters are trying to keep the first post up
to date with the current version of their work.
My suggestion is that any thread with downloads should have a
I personally hate it when devs have one massive thread, updating the
first post and thread title as they go. I would much rather they
started a new thread for each release, with a date so you know how
recent that build is.

It is bad practice to edit previous posts. It's also a right pain for
people who see the posts via email/gmane/RSS feeds.
If the first post is amended, some text from the original post could be
lost. eg. a previous version of a plugin that someone may actually want
still? I'm not totally
Not sure i see the value of this, most threads regarding plug-in's get
edited and, as well as an attachment, should have a link to the plugins
web/download page. What extra would your idea add? Maybe you need to be
more clear?

I guess you are meaning if a dev post changes only at the end, which
after a few more posts becomes lost within the thread so you cant find
the latest version of the plugin??
When I update a plugin, I edit/amend the first post to include the
changes and then paste the changes as the last thread
The idea is that the posts and information don't change except for one
post within the thread so development can be preserved, but there is
one place for links downloads etc.
I would acknowledge that some plugin creators are very good at keeping
