openhab home automation has a component to do this. It's a lot of work
to set up just for this. Just thought I'd mention it.

We sort of built this for Bluetooth. A channel is created in the LMS
that interrupts playback when the paired BT device input starts.

I am running the latest version of Squeezeserver on a Linux box and have
multiple PiCorePlayers with USB-DACs distributed about the house. This
system works perfectly for multi-room, multi-zone audio!
