Although I haven't taken mine apart before so there may be other issues here
but how about physically fliping the display upside down in the case?

That will work, but you'll need to clip off a couple of the tabs on
the top and bottom case that hold the board in place. The tabs in
question are in the middle of the case (the ones on the ends can be
left in place).

Display rotation sounds like a fabulous idea! I know Slim Devices used
to offer an under mount kit for the original SliMP3 but not the
SqueezeBoxes. I think display rotation in software would be just as
good or even better solution. I don't know if it is possible though.

Why does it have to be upsidedown? Because the bottom isnt pretty enough?
Use velco to stick it to the bottom.
