And on the beta list there are those who test it. Developers would
subscribe to both, I guess.

That's what I thought - but is there not a huge overlap between the two
groups (dev/beta)?
Surely most people will end up reading/subscribed to both, not one or
the other?

I think the synchronization mail - forum does not work. Several of my
posts have been delivered to the mailing list, but don't show up in the
forums.
