I now experience exactly the same issue: some files with special characters (eg. ü in Ouvertüre) do not play. I am using the iTunes integration and all my files are in Apple Lossless format. Would they work if they were mp3 or flac? Are they showing up in SC at all? Did it work in SC 7.0? I

7.01 scanner could not handle for example å ä ö but that was fixed lately. it could not handle Björk for example. not in folders or files. Afaik everything 18530 don't have this problem. I suggest that you start a new bug considering Special characters * and Itunes integration. *what would be

This is a know bug and is being worked on. Expect to see some improvement in SqueezeCenter 7 when it is released. In the mean time, yes, renaming your files is really the only fix. But you don't need to do it manually. If you are running Slimserver under windows, I wrote a little utility
