Well, the OOo build-in Bibliography-support is currently indeed far
from satisfying.
However, Bibus (http://bibus-biblio.sf.net) does a very good job, is
plattform independent (Python) and uses either SQlight
Yeah Scribus just has all the answers. The OpenOffice, Scribus combination
has been a fantastic find for me, as there are also a number of drawings
which are all done in OO and directly imported into Scribus.
Open source has saved me loads!

On the "Normal" tab in the editing environment, it would be very useful to have
a small window at the bottom for entering slide notes as I create/modify a
presentation. It would also be useful on the outline tab, if keyed to the
particular slide being edited.

there could be mysql scripts to allow you this possibility. Base might
