looking for powerpoint, and OOo doesn't provide a way of emulating the
way that third party software links into MSO, that would probably

That's not the argument. The argument is that switching templates
on-the-fly or piling template on template are both such involved
procedures that attempting either of them greatly increases the risk of
something going wrong.
