There is rumored to be turnover of key staff at the vendor currently being petitioned for OpenDoccument support:

The last paragraph says:
        "It's rumoured that a lead developer of Microsoft
        Office, Don Gagne, plans to leave the company in
        December, according to the Mini-Microsoft blog.
        Microsoft representatives would not immediately confirm
        Gagne's resignation, and Gagne did not respond to
        inquiries about it."

His departure, if actual, would probably affect that company's ability to go forward technically with his department's products. That would indirectly affect both support for OpenDocument and the barganing position in political activities like in Massachussetts, Peru, and other places.
