Just wanted to pass this on in hope that this might helps someone. Big part
of the problem was attempting to change the file extensions. I recently
re-installed XP, re-defaulted settings. There is a setting, in file types,
that
hides or does not allow you to change the file extensions.

Thanks for the clarification. Change the file extension to a zip = *.odt
to *.zip. Now if I can get it to change, so far stuffit has not recognized
the extension change. I have tried a known good file and experencing the same
issues, maybe I am doing something incorrect. Will keep worki

what I started with? When I zip and then unzip the *.odt, I have only one
file. If I understand correct, there are file(s) generated or hidden after
compressing/extracting the *.odt file? Be happy to send you th

I see note pad and word will not make sense of the file. Is there a editor
program out there that I can use to remove/edit the html and table stuff from
the file? I am thinking this is where the problem is, not 100%.

Hi, not sure if we are talking about the same type of file. I am thinking
you might be referring too the main openoffice folder, not a file from one of
the modules. I did try to zip it, expand, rename, (not in that order) and
did not have any luck, only the original "file" appears and noth
Just rename the file to something.zip, unzip it and you'll find some xml
files. These can be opened with an text editor, such as gEdit, Emacs, Vi or
even OpenOffice.org, edited and saved. Then zip it again and rename it to
something.odt.

Hi,
Not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this question. I have a open
office writer file that is corrupt or something is wrong with it. The
file/page(s) has html links and tables on some of the pages, I am suspecting
this
has something to do with the error.
