that works for me with org.restlet.jar taken from the jse edition v2.0m6.
Could you tell us what is the context? Eclipse, netbeans, command-line?
The jar you are using, the kind of client?

I tried the firstSteps-tutorial in both ways - in a servlet container and as a
standalone Java application.
Inside the servlet container everything works fine.
The pure java application doesn't work.I downloaded the source at
