Security Technical Lead/Senior Developer

Location – San Jose, California

Job Description:
The Security Technology Business Unit (STBU) within Cisco is seeking a
Technical lead/owner for its emerging technology next generation
Management Platform. The vision for this new product is to be the next
generation “network security management” platform for all of Cisco’s
security products including but not limited to firewall, remote access/
VPN, IPS and a broad range of security appliances. This security
management platform includes an integrated, multi-device, web-based
security management solution focused on configuration, monitoring,
troubleshooting, eventing, visibility, and reports for our security
appliances. Special emphasis will be put on usability and ensuring
that the product is intuitive, interactive and aesthetically pleasing.
Our team will take a fast-paced, iterative approach to development
using the Agile process. We are seeking an individual that can bring
creativity and innovation into the team.
Depending on experience/skill-set, candidate might be hired to own/
lead one or more large component(s) with a growth path towards owning/
leading the entire platform and architecture.

Responsibilities:
- Architect, design and provide leadership on a large core part of the
management platform
- Develop an enterprise scale web-based application using DOJO,
JavaScript, Python, Django framework and latest web 2.0 technologies
- Have a focus on user-centered design and making the product easy-to-
use
- Interact with many different architects and cross-functional groups
to gather feedback on best approaches to solving problems
- Guide and coach a broad team of senior engineers across sites to
contribute at high levels
- Be an integral part of the team that is willing to contribute on all
aspects of the product
- Review and sign off on requirements documents
- Write specification documents and drive sign-off

Requirements:
- 15+ years experience in software design and implementation of
enterprise products
- Demonstrated technical ownership/leadership of large component(s) or
whole product/platform
- Experience in technical management and leading small teams of junior
and senior engineers
- Proven skills in leading and developing a web-based application
aimed at the enterprise and commercial market. Experience developing
network/security management software is a plus
- Knowledgeable and hands-on experience with a wide range of web-based
technologies
- At least two years in-depth experience with Dojo and JavaScript
- At least two years experience with Python and Django or other
related object-oriented programming language and web framework
- Understand basic networking and security. A plus if you have in-
depth knowledge of security
- Have a track record of delivering top quality software with minimal
customer-found defects
- Can solve complex problems and understand root cause
- Received positive feedback and accolades from those that have worked
with you
- Have excellent verbal and writing communication skills
- Able to work independently and in a team atmosphere. Raises the
quality of the team
