hostname -> IP mapping is DNS, not related to DHCP. dnsmasq adds DHCP
information into the DNS zone.
DHCP has to map the information provided by the client (that is a MAC
address, quite reliable, and a client ID, quite unreliable) to an IP
address to be offered. I guess you're wanting the client
Are the only two ways of configuring static IPs to edit /etc/ethers, or add
dhcp-host lines? Initially I thought dnsmasq would just use the hostname-->ip
mappings in my /etc/hosts, but that doesn't seem to be working...
Is there any good reason for not having an option to use /etc/hosts for dhc
