I can't solve the problem of rendering symbols (entities in XML, as
micro;).
I work with jadetex 3.12, pdftex and openjade trough norm's dsssl.
Openjade
build a tex file con the symbol coded (B5h in this case). But pdftex
complains

You might want to try a way that many people on this list use to include
code. It works well, avoids conflicts with and characters, and
automatically inserts the latest code any time the document is processed.

to set for docbook to use the extensions. Am I too far off the mark?

In my experience (and based on advice I've received), entities are a
cumbersome way to share content. You could use an xsl to copy the
content over and at the same time have it remove id's in the copied
version. I suggest something like this in a reply to another post:
