We also had to make changes in The Ubuntu Manual, http://ubuntu-manual.org/ After updating Xenial in VirtualBox, I now have two identical icons on the Launcher: one for gnome-software and one for Ubuntu Software Center, which I had installed in Xenial because I find USC much better than gnome-software.
