Hi Timo, http://wiki.dovecot.org/IndexFiles explains what the index files contain. Initially when the mailbox is opened all they contain are message UIDs (from dovecot-uidlist) and flags (from maildir filenames) (assuming maildir format). Thank you for your reply. I understood well.
