If the expire plugin is enabled and a new message (not in trash) is
deleted via IMAP in Mozilla Thunderbird (only tested in this client), it
will indefinately copy the message into the folder. Dovecot, meanwhile,
occupies itself with this:

For one or two packages, you do not need to setup a repository, just
copy the .deb's and install them with dpkg -i.
actually, I have about six mail servers to administer, so I guess a
local repository would be a good thing. ;-)

some. We have services that put receipts and unanswered calls and voice
mails on IMAP folders (there's acls and a master password allowing them
to do that) and we had to enable POP access to that for POP only
