+1000 for IMAPSync.
I was never able to get doveadm sync/backup to work despite a lot of tinkering
attempting to do so. Never.
I could get imapsync to work in <10m and it works incredibly well.
I can't say enough good things about imapsync

As I understand it,

were, for example, subscribed, and then deleted.)

So, it *looks* like using something like "auth_username_format = %Ln" on the
old server dovecot config will fix the problem I outlined below. (I still need

I'm, trying to sync/backup mailboxes from a current dovecot instance to a new

The reason there's no pretty complete how-to is because what you're doing seems
completely insane to the vast majority of people who'd look at your problem and
select your way of approaching solving it.

I'm no docker guru - so I'm more than a little out of my depth in this case.
But clearly ssh is installed, because that's what I'm running, and the sshd
allows a connect and I get a return from ls. So, it's working fine outside the
container.
And I only need to execute doveadm sync inside the

So I've done quite a lot of searching on the list and on the web - and perhaps
my google-fu is really bad - but I can't find any real recipes on how to sync
mail from the old server to the new.
As an FYI - the old server is a CPanel/WHM setup on a VPS.
The new is mailcow - which uses docker.
Rolling your own MTA/Dovecot and groupware isn't a trivial undertaking.
But I think one of the best examples of a really well done setup is mailcow.
I've recently been tinkering with it, and it does an exceptional job.
While it's not really an exchange replacement I'm quite impressed and feel it

I'm sure this is related to name-spaces, but for some reason [brain damage

I was pretty sure this would be something someone had run into sometime.
