Just a couple of lines to definitely confirm that the issue is present
*only* on the sparc version of Debian while on a box equipped with an
Intel Pentium processor everything works as expected.

imap_client_workarounds = outlook-idle
after a customers complaint (Windows Vista, Outlook 2007) and after a
week, she reports me that the issue has never repeated. So it has worked
for me. I am running 1.0.rc15 (as from the original post) on a Debian
