Have just upgraded to 2.2.3 and when it started I got these lines in the log:
dovecot[44069]: master: Dovecot v2.2.3 starting up (core dumps disabled)

version 2.2.ABIv2(2.2.2) (we have 2.2.ABIv3(2.2.3)):
