I turn it off too. Just go to the little ">>" menu and
select configure > local preferences.
Then when notepad pops up, add the line
bannerurl = "";
after you save and close notepad, enter a single ! in the
search box. It will reload itself without the little icon.

Yeah, the DQSDTools WriteFile method limits file writing to the local dir
for some sort of security.
I'm not sure if you can get the FileSystemObject to work for this...? I
would assume it's marked unsafe for scripting, but that should be
overridable somehow.

I think the function Monty is talking about
(writeFile)
has two important limitations - it only works on text
files and it only writes out files within the DQSD
installation directory.
You can try playing with writeFile function (found in
tools.js) and see if it will work.
