"Dan Ringer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I've found a source for functionally and (nearly) visually equivalent "knobs" for the "Reactive Range" and "Resistive Range" lever switches, and the "VSWR Set" switch on the MN-4C tuner (matching network). They may or may not work on the MN-7 and MN-2700. From pictures I've seen it looks as though the 4C, 7 and 2700 all use the same knobs.
The Drake knobs are virtually identical to the "Tube Element" lever switch knobs on a old Knight Kit KG-600B tube tester. There are 2 differences between the Drake and Knight Kit knobs. 1. The finish of the end of the knobs - the Drake knobs have a depression on the end, the Knight Kit knobs have a flat surface with a slightly raised lip around the edge. (You'll find pictures of the 600 series all over eBay.) 2. The Knight Kit knobs have thicker walls, which should make them more durable. They are VERY slightly larger, fit fine, and look great. They're not Drake originals, but appear to be more durable and are probably what Drake should have used. They 600B's frequently show up on eBay -- and you get TEN (10) knobs with each tube tester! The testers have been selling recently for $30- $40 each. You might also look at the other testers in the 600 line (600 and 600B). I haven't seen those. The tube tester works fine without the knobs (so does the MN-4C). But you probably look at the MN-4C every day. How often do you look at your tube tester? I apologize to the members of the Association for the Preservation of Tube Testers, and Knight Kit fans. But there is a higher purpose to be served! No, sorry, I don't have any to sell.
