I recently repaired this exact problem on a TR-7 that I have here.
When I changed bands with the band switch, it would stay on the previous
band. If I switched the AUX switch to 1 and back, it would change to the
band selected by the band switch. I did not have an AUX-7 installed.
My problem
Well, so much for my genius idea. First problem, the voltage jumped to
34.3vdc static. Then I forgot to think. When you double the voltage,
you half the current. Now the fan will not run at all, not even start.
I could keep doing stupid things but decided to go to the old 12vdc
fan I had that

WHOA !!
The Zener is NOT inside the PTO can in the T-4X. It's over on the BAND
OSCILLATOR board (near the BAND crystals). It is used to regulate both
the BAND OSC and the PTO.
The Zener IS inside the later PTOs.

Hi David,
Yuchhh...!!!
That news I did NOT wanna hear! Hi Hi
Either I was too pre-occupied to notice when I had the VFO open the first time,

seeing Q1, Q2, or D6 inside that can...I guess I'll HAVE to this time around,
All,
I have e-mailed Demis, and the problem is:
When the BAND switch is rotated, the rig does not move bands. Then if you move
the AUX switch from normal to 1 and back the rig then changes bands. This is
occurring on all bands.
For example:
Currently on 80 meters, and use the BAND switch to g
Yes. Be careful not to wildly disturb the physical placement of the other
components. Good luck!

Hi Guys,
A quick question before I start dis-assembling my T-4X here to replace zener
diode D6 (a 1N714, at Q1 VFO buffer)...
Is this rascal inside the VFO can...?
When I had this shield removed a week ago to clean the guide shafts & add a
ground strap (to address my frequency warble issue), I
