Is it beyond the realm of possibility that some small tube company might be
convinced to do a limited (Sylvania quality) run of 6JB6's and 6AH6's? If a
hundred hams signed up to buy several sets each, would that be enough, I
wonder?
Anyone know an exec/owner of a tube company?
Hi, all - I just noticed my s-meter in the R4B is cracked. (How do those
things happen?) Does anyone know if they're replaceable, or are they part
of the meter? I hate to take it apart just to find out I can't fix it.
(Maybe with a very fine hacksaw...)

I'm the someone.. I'm also a guitar builder, and want to mention
something about dust. I'm was as guilty as anyone about grinding stuff w/o
even a paper mask until someone I knew was grinding abalone shell for a
guitar inlay and almost had to have a lung transplant.
Garey:
In 1960, I was a NOVICE (WN6BTS) and there was, indeed, a prohibition
against using VFO's. All novice license holders had to use only crystal
controlled Xmitters. I made mine out of old TV parts and a 6146, grinding
down some old crystals with sandpaper that older hams had given me.
Hey, Dino - Thanks for the reference you gave to Mike! I just downloaded
it for myself and It looks to be very valuable for all of us.

Hi, Gang -
Do any of you know of someone on the west coast who repairs
radios? Anyone in WA, OR and CA?
I'd like to get my boxes tuned up by a pro, but hate to see them bounced
though the mail/UPS/FedEx system, even double boxed. (Not to mention the
price...)

Perhaps you're on a (very)local community or neighborhood well for
water and you may HAVE a pump somewhere nearby.

So, for instance, if we're using Outlook for email, we should use reply to
all rather than just reply?
I'm assuming that just using reply will NOT send it to the reflector, but
to the originator of the message. Other email programs will probably have
slightly different buttons to push - and
Here I am, sitting here reading Drakelist comments. I just glanced up at
the shelf where my TR4C sits, over and to the left of my monitor. I noticed
that the plate control stuck out a little from the front panel. That's
odd, I said. Naturally, I had to touch it, and give it a little wiggle.
Good evening to the group -

Good morning, Drake gang -
I was comparing the RV4 and
RV3 schematics to see if there
would be any reason to swap
out my RV3 to get a matched

compared the performance of
these two remotes? Is the RV4
as stable as the RV3?
Actually, I'm really happy

Same thing here, Don - for some reason, I found it especially irritating to

Thanks – I came up with an inrad company that makes very esoteric instruments,

OK, gang - here's a report on the batch of meters for the Drake wattmeters,
MN4's and so forth that K5JG (Jim Gerke) recently purchased and offered
here. I recently destroyed the face and movement on my MN4 and bought one
from Jim - he operates out of www.hamspec.us

Hi, Eddy -
Do you think you could sand down the frequency on a
crystal close to the one you want? I don't know what kind of crystals are
in your receivers, or even +how it would work for receivers, but it worked
for me for transmitting on my old homebrew rig.

I don't know why it is, and I'd love to know, but I don't
