Thanks to Keith K0GNW, I received a copy of the instruction sheet for the LA-7 Line Amplifier and the instruction sheet resolved my issue of distorted audio when the LA-7 is used with the R-7 receiver.. For the benefit of those on the reflector who would hook up an LA-7 to an R-7 receiver, the LA-7 needs to be opened up and a jumper moved from a post marked "TR" (i.e. TR-7) to Rcvr (i.e. R-7). That places a 100K resistor in line with the audio input of the R-7, reducing gain to the correct level and increasing isolation between the receiver and the amplifier. After making the switch, my LA-7/R-7A worked perfect. Thanks for your response to my request, Keith! 73 Lee WB6SSW
