John, I have been able to get it off with lacquer thinner. Just be careful and don't take off the black underlying finish to the bare aluminum,or it will show with the new paint job. The paint wasn't originally tacky, just got that way over the years. Gary

Folks, my TR-7 case (both top and sides) is rather sticky and causes dust to adhere. Is this type of finish the original? Any suggestions as to how to clean it without removing the actual black finish? Thanks for your help & ideas. John W9ILY <>
