Gang, I just tried the sticky paint fix as described at: http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/StickPaintFix.htm ...on my RV7. Well, I was a bit skeptical, but it does seem to work. I followed the procedure as described, except that at the initial wash-down with dish soap, I used one of those gorcery-store 'scrub pads' (similar to Scotch-brite pads but less dense) and gave the case a real good scrubdown. It turned a yellow scrub pad grey... For reference, I used Easy Off Fume Free Max (Lemon Scent) oven cleaner, which has no Sodium Hydroxide. And no, my RV7 does not smell like lemons now. After soaking the cover down with silicon protectant and wiping off the excess, I let it sit a couple of days and then buffed it up with a towel. It looks pretty good, and is not sticky at all anymore.
