A correction: it's not the mainline kernel; rather, it's the default kernel

In my case, I'm logging into X without a login manager at tty1 and after a thaw
my laptop display does not come up. Not just the external display. This makes
hibernate to unusable.

Just got this on my Thinkpad T450 running Linux 4.2.0-040200-generic (from the
Ubuntu mainline kernels). The trace is ever so slightly different though (line
