Hi, I just bought an ATI Radeon SDR 32mb board, installed it on my Pentium II 333MHz box, and tried DRI, but to no avail. I want to run fgfs (FlightGear:flight simulator for X using glx). Withoug DRI, fgfs runs correctly, but it is very slow as a matter of fact. I have been using Matrox G200 8mb, and DRI worked out, but because of insufficient hardware 3D acceleration, it was not fast enough, but DRI was certainly worked. Now I'm using Radeon SDR board with more ram and fast 3d acceleration, but now I got many random dots on the screen when DRi is on. Random dots appears mostly vertically, and looks as if dots are mismapped to other places. Each time the screen refreshes, those random dots also flash at the same time. However, the software (fgfs) runs just fine very fast. Most of the dots are aligned vertically, every (aproximately)32 horizontal dots. After returning to text mode, the characters are broken, and some characters are mismapped or missing and even some dots blink randomly. I haven't tried under this circumstance becaues the broken text screen is almost unreadable. Even after "rmmod radeon" it continues as though it were mismapped. But programs seem to run correctly. I first thought it was because of incompatible combination of motherboard chip sets(440LX) and ATI Radeon chip, but somehow in Windows98SE it works very fine; MSFlight Simulator98 looks accelerated than on Matrox G200. So now I suspect Xserver implementation. I attach my XF86Config and /var/log/XFree86.0.log, but as you will see I cannot find any problem there. Will anyone help me? I'm very very dissapointed....My environment is as follows, and my XF86Config and log files follow it; Pentium II 333MHz with 256Mb ram with 440LX chip set (note it runs perfectly on Win98SE) Radeon SDR 32MB bulk DRI server on top of XFree86 4.0.2 Debian Linux 2.2r2 with kernel 2.4.2 On Windows98SE, pstrip.exe which detects video board's status detects my board correctly (Radeon SDR 32mb ram), and says it runs at 160MHz as graphics engine clock and memory clock. Any help I can get would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Tetsuji Rai ----------XF86Config---------------------- # File generated by xf86config. # # Copyright (c) 1999 by The XFree86 Project, Inc. # # Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a # copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), # to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation # the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, # and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the # Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: # # The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in # all copies or substantial portions of the Software. # # THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR # IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, # FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
