           Summary: compiz too slow: radeon+AIGLX
           Product: Mesa
           Version: 6.5
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Drivers/DRI/Radeon
        AssignedTo: dri-devel@lists.sourceforge.net
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello! my situation is
radeon mobility 9700 / radeon mobility 9000
color: 24 bit
ubuntu feisty
libmesa 6.5.1~20060817-0ubuntu3
compiz 0.3.6

When using compiz/beryl the system is unacceptable slow. Especially when:
-) scrolling
-) using the scale plugin or some animation
-) viewing animated things like flash or animated gifs (tested in firefox)
-) using vim in a maximized gnome-terminal

when compiz starts I get this message:

libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
compiz.real: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is not supported by direct rendering
context, trying indirect rendering context instead

What can cause it? Can it be caused by the fact that GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap
is indirect?

Additional note: when the color is 16 bit these the performance is a little bit
higher but not acceptable.
