Thanks fot your input. I have now built a new xserver and the drm kernel modules. glxgears runs at approx 160 fps for 1280x1024x16, with mmio and agp 2x. This seems a little slow, how much is speed improved by asynchronous or synchronous DMA? Which one is preferred? A note on the build process of
