Dear DSpace Community, The DSpace Committers team are delighted to announce a new member to the group: *Tom Desair from Atmire*. Please join us in welcoming him!
Tom Desair is a lead software developer at Atmire. In this role, he takes ownership of the various technical aspects in developing and managing the institutional research repositories of small and large clients. Besides that, Tom is actively contributing to the DSpace open source code and support channels. His main focus right now is on the design and development of the new REST API for DSpace 7 and streamlining the DSpace 6 backend code. He also tries to contribute and to give constructive feedback in DSpace design and development discussions, for example during the DSpace 7 prototype evaluation process [1]. Prior to working for Atmire, Tom was a Java IT consultant at Nike where he built up experience with technologies like Hibernate, Spring, scaling and performance. He strongly believes in the vision of open access and open source and is very happy that he can make the world a more knowledgeable place by supporting and improving DSpace. We are always on the lookout for new developers, contributors, and committers within the DSpace community. Anyone who would like to get more involved is encouraged to do so. You are also welcome to contact us at any time if you'd like some ideas of how to start contributing: - https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpaceContributors Contributions can take many forms, from writing code to editing documentation, or testing new releases to designing new themes for our user interfaces. If you or someone you know has been an active DSpace contributor for some time, you can also nominate that person to become our next committer! Nomination details are available at: - https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Committer+Nominations Thanks, The DSpace Committers Group [1] https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+UI+Prototype+Challenge#DSpaceUIPrototypeChallenge-PrototypeEvaluationProcess -- Tim Donohue Technical Lead for DSpace & DSpaceDirect DuraSpace.org | DSpace.org | DSpaceDirect.org -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "DSpace Developers" group.
