I'd recommend using our Troubleshooting guide to look for errors in either 
the User Interface or the backend (logs):

Whenever an odd behavior occurs in DSpace 7, this is usually a sign of an 
error behind the scenes.  It's important to look for that error, as it will 
provide clues as to the core problem.
