Hi all, We've just finished an IRC meeting for Pere's DSpace GSoC project:
- http://fedora-commons.org/confluence/display/DSPACE/GSOC10+-+Add+Unit+Testing+to+Dspace Here is a brief set of minutes: We first categorised the types of testing we could undertake into three broad and crude categories: 1) Single class junit tests. Ideal candidates would be classes such a DCDate. These can be easily tested in isolation. This sort of test, along with an appropriate way for maven to execute them will give the project, and DSpace, and early win. Hopefully it will encourage further tests to be created by other developers, and we could move towards an expectation of new code requiring tests like this before they are committed. 2) More complex unit tests that require a database to be present. This would ideally work with an embedded database such as hqsql or derby. We need to think about this a little more to decide how best to do this, and how it would interact with the new services architecture. 3) High level functional tests using a tool such as selenium. A full transcript of the meeting is available online: http://duraspace.org/irclogs/index.php?date=2010-05-26 We agreed that Pere will tackle number 1 first, for the next three weeks. He will work on an SVN branch of the current trunk. In three weeks time, if all goes well and the development community are happy with the work, we'll consider merging the changes back into trunk. Pere will provide weekly updates to the DSpace GSoC and devel lists about his progress. We will meet again in two weeks time to look at his progress, and to discuss where there project should head next. This meeting will be held on Wednesday 9th June in the #duraspace IRC channel at 21:00 UTC. If you are unable to make the meeting, please email your thoughts to Pere and I and we will ensure they get included. Many thanks to everyone who got involved! It was a great meeting.
