Hello, I had to do it manually until I enabled the solr text indexing, I can't say why but it sarted to create thumbails from images and pdfs. Note that Dspace indexes by default the uploaded files at 3 AM, is possible to change it. So when you upload a file, the next day you will see the thumbnail. I hope this helps!
