Is there any instruction available on the web for an upgrade from Dspace
1.3.2 to 1.4 on a windows platform? I am trying to install Manakin on
Dspace and was advised to upgrade from Dspace 1.3.2 to 1.4 for a
successful installation.

Sorry, it took me so long to reply.
I fixed my problem now. I went with your first option - modified
SubmitServlet to skip that initial questions screen. I also had to make
changes in edit-metadata.jsp (removed "Previous" button on step 1
screen) and progressbar.jsp( removed link to i
