Most large files are audio/video files. Downloading the whole file may not
be a good solution here. Maybe adapting the large files to suit the users'
needs, e.g., if the user's bandwidth or usage environment is limited, then
adapting the audio/video files into lower quality streams, would be a more
Hi Stuart,
Thanks very much for the prompt reply.
Recently we have upgraded it to Dspace 1.4.1 on RHEL 4 using postgres

I made the change in db.maxconnections and I think this should solve the

I had the same problem. My work around is to upload an html file that simply
does a redirect to the full-text source.

You need to set your search.analyzer =
org.apache.lucene.analysis.cn.ChineseAnalyzer in the dspace.cfg file and run
index-all.
Note that we use org.apache.lucene.analysis.standard.StandardAnalyzer which
seems to handle a mix of Chinese and English quite well.

Yesterday, I made changes in dspace.cfg to enable statistics. I also
recently set Tomcat up to run SSL, but I've commented out the settings
as we don't have the port turned on. Pretty easy stuff. I haven't
touched my ldap settings as I successfully set that up weeks ago. Our

Our initial community structure has been rethought, and now I need to

My position on huge AV files has been that they are too large for the
average user to fiddle with if he has to download the whole thing

Interesting thought, but using bittorrent would require the setup of
