Hi Claudia, Robert,
Thank you for the prompt answer! This solves the problem.
It seems that, commenting out the first step in item-submission.xml leaves

I enabled multiple file submission by including the SkipInitialQuestionsStep

Thanks again for all the help. It was a simple thing that finally fixed my
issue. Cacoon cache needed to be cleared! The cache was still pulling old
pages that needed to be generated anew with these changes.
Everything works as intended now.
Thanks again!

Hi Susan,
No, the system keeps track of the highest assigned identifier and ups
it by one, so there shouldn't be a case where one is re-used. I think
the question is more to do with the purpose of an archive, and whether,
once an identifier is out in the wild, it should disappear. It all

Rahul,
Please see the DSpace Documentation section on "Storage Layer". It
describes how DSpace stores files on the filesystem and metadata in the
database. DSpace does require enough local storage for both any
uploaded files and a database for metadata.

Guillermo,
That's not my problem. I can use wget and lynx on the URL. That works. I
just never have any stats show up. I would appreciate any help anyone can
offer.

A lot of people have hit this issue or others like it. There is
fundamental disagreement within the community as to whether a
protected object should be undiscoverable or simply unfetchable.

Hi, Christian, as Mark Wood has observed, many people have run into this

I am using xmlui for 1.8.1 and I too have seen the same functionality. As a
temporary workaround I used jspui.
Post a Jura bug if none can be found.

Hi Susan,
My initial guess is to try to append a slash to the URL. Or append a slash,
and some random url stuff, to atleast get a 404.

Very strange. If I type /garbage or /garbage/, I still get a

There is definitely an error occurring in cocoon. I'm not entirely sure
how to fix it though - but maybe just pointing it out will help some of
