[Dspace-tech] Hiding sub-communities from main page

Hi All, I've just inherited a dspace project and know nothing about the software. I've been told there's no admin interface via the web-- which I find hard to believe, and all changes need to be done command line. I'm wondering if someone can tell me how to hide sub-communities from the
