in my opinion we need a different approach for item-mapping.
The mapping should be done from the item (as admin option). Thus the
basic search and browse functionality could be used.
For this we would also need kind of collection-selection tree view,
which would be of use in other parts
I support Mika's idea of a configurable Item Mapper. We would like an item
mapper that could be configured for multiple fields such as author and title.
We are sorting through a large number of results as well, which makes managing
the collection clumsy at times.

Im using item mapper to map items from one collection to another. Im
curious why the only way to searh items within the interface is via
author name? Wouldnt the title be better for this, or even handle?
