Subject: [frrl] FRRL W9CEQ D-Star and Refelctor -001

Hello ALL;

We have great news concerning the FRRL
D-Star systems - Thanks to Dean Holste KC9EOQ
the computer that powers D-Star REF001 has been
replaced. The orignal server had been overhwelmed
at times keeping up with processor power which resulted
in dropped connections that timed-out on lost
copnnection- keeping pings to the connected client repeaters.
With the replacement system that Dean has
provided the problem no longer exists and REF001 now
provides operation that is far more dependable and stable
than ever before..

The REF001 system is know in the D-Star World
as the Internationsl MEGA reflector and it located
here in Aurora, IL. Using this system the FRRL plays
host to the D-Star world as the general calling and working
reflector channel on REF001-C; it also hosts the Illinois
D-Star nets on REF001-B; while the third channel known
as REF001-A is planned to be used in the
future for bulletins.

Even if you do not have a D-Star radio or
more than a passing interest please look at the
server's website for a full list of the epeaters,
local hostspots and dongles that are connected;
http://ref001.dstargateway.org/
At the time of this writing there are 36 connected
repeaters, including the W9CEQ-B 440 machine
on 442.10625 Mhz in addition to 26 individual
hotspots and dongle users.

I also would like to thank Jim Nevits K9XP for
his donation of a new rack-mounted server which
will soon power the FRRL W9CEQ Gateway system
at our West Batavia/Elburn site., replacing an aging
750-Mhz computer that has been in service since
2006

My sincere thanks to both Dean and Jim for
their donation and material support of the FRRL
D-Star effort.

                           73, Kermit W9XA
      .
