Hi all,

Couple days ago I set in a new DS repeater in my ID-800. However, later
noticed when this repeater came up there was no audio from the rig spkr.

I later found that I had turned on the CTCSS "decode" and it got programmed
along with the other DS info. Since DS does not use CTCSS it would not open
the tone decode muting the rcvr audio.

I know DS does not use tone. And on tx if you set up a DS freq for it, I am
sure the rig does not turn it on during tx.

However, during rcv it appears if the tone decode is on then it is waiting for
a tone and then and only then will unmute the rec, the typical tone decode op.

The tone op status is displayed in upper right of display on the ID800. Since
we are programming analog as well as DS in the rig it is easy to turn on in VFO
for analog and forget to turn off when going to DS.

You can test this on the ID800 by going to a programmed DS freq with user
active and turn on tone decode, while in rcv, with center TONE key on front of
rig. You will see the audio mute. Not sure if same for other DS rigs. I'll
try my IC91.

Just something I though ID-800 should know. Maybe it has been discussed. This
is flaw in ID-800 op design, but really no real problem. Just have to be aware
of it.
